『御前崎プロ2023』3日目は男子ラウンド16からスタート。波はややサイド寄りの微風が吹いているものの朝の時点では波に影響はなく昨日に引き続きグラッシーコンディション。ウネリは昨日より弱いが形いい波が来ていた。朝から選手たちは思い思いにマニューバーを描いていた。本日は波のコンディションが弱まってしまい男子クウォーターファイナル第2ヒート・女子ラウンド16まで熱い試合が繰り広げられた。
本日のベストスコアは地元選手として注目の池田未来選手。先日発表となった11月にブラジルで行われるワールドジュニアU-16の日本代表として派遣される池田選手は、中東寄りからシフトしてきたセットをファーストプライオリティーを使い、なかなかホレ上がってくる波ではないもののハイラインを使いスピードをつけ、エンドセクションまでスピードとリズムを合わせ3つの技を繋ぎ、9.00ptとエクセレントスコアで先日の大原洋人選手と同ポイントを得て、6.00ptと9.00ptトータル15.00ptで明日のクウォーターファイナルへラウンドアップ。
勝利者インタビューでは、『ヒートは最初4点代でそこから6点代出せれたのは良かったのかなと思います。もう一本グットを出したくいい波を待って、いい波取れて乗ったら９点出たので、良かったです。最初６点以上は出たかなと思ったけど、９点は出るとは思っていなかたのでビックリしました。去年も地元で試合ができて嬉しかったんですけど、今年も皆様のおかげでこの御前崎で試合ができてとても嬉しいです。試合がない間は海外行ったりすると体力が落ちるので、トレーニングしたり食事に気をつけたりしています。食事面では炭水化物が不足しているので、しっかり摂りつつ果物も好きなので食べています。CT選手とかで特定の戦手はいませんが、トップサーファーの個々の特徴があるので、そのレベルまで目指して練習を頑張っています。みなさんいつもありがとうございます。今日やっと試合ができてすごく嬉しいです。明日も頑張りますので、応援お願い致します』と語った。
明日8月27日（日）は、午前6時30分にファーストコールされ、ヒートスタートは、午前7時スタート予定となっている。
